Difficult Airway Skills Lab- RRNA Only (1 Class A CE)- (Additional Registration Fee Required)

This is a RRNA Only Simulation Lab. Additional Registration is Required. Registration can be found on the Annual Congress meeting registration page.

This is a hands-on lab where participants will get the chance to practice using difficult airway management equipment and techniques including video laryngoscopy, fiberoptic techniques, flexible intubating endoscopy, and cricothyrotomy.

NOTE- Seats for this session are limited to 25 attendees per hour time block. Therefore, you need to sign up in advance (additional registration fee required), via the registration page for the meeting, in order to hold your spot. If you sign up and do not plan to attend, please cancel your sign up so another attendee may obtain a spot.

Learning Objectives:

  • Use multiple difficult airway adjuncts with manikins designed to simulate difficult airway situations.
  • Manage a known difficult airway using a flexible intubating endoscope.
  • Identify the cricothyroid membrane (CTM) and techniques to help identify the CTM and surrounding anatomic structures associated with cricothyrotomy placement.
  • Demonstrate cricothyrotomy technical skills.
  • Assess the effectiveness of ventilation after cricothyrotomy placement.
