In this session, we will discuss care considerations for transgender and gender non-conforming persons. This discussion will include a review of terminology, pre-operative narratives, hormone therapy, anesthetic implications, and risk factors. We will also discuss barriers to care, psychosocial needs and mental health considerations for the transgender and gender non-conforming population.

Understand the correct use terminology as it relates to transgender and gender non-conforming persons.
Identify risks of hormone therapies as it relates to anesthesia.
Identify a pre-operative anesthetic plan including the psychosocial and medical needs for the transgender population.
