Resident Session: Bridging the Gap –Supporting New Graduate CRNAs Transition to Practice (1 Class A CE)

The transition from graduate school to a new Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) can be challenging and stressful. We sought to provide support to improve new CRNA confidence using simulation to teach and rehearse critical thinking, decision making, and skills known to improve team functioning. Building clinician and team confidence can translate to improved job satisfaction, work relationships, and potentially improve staff retention. Adding simulation to new graduate CRNA orientation is an intervention organization may use to promote successful role transition and job satisfaction. Understanding the value of simulation training is an incentive to promote expansion within organizations and guides future research.
