Deep Sedation with a Natural Airway is a Viable Alternative to General Anesthesia with Endotracheal Tube for Isolated Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Implantation (State of the Science Oral Poster Session) (.25 Class A CE)
The AANA Foundation’s State-of-the-Science Oral Poster Session features sixteen CRNAs and RRNAs presenting their research findings classroom-presentation style. Each researcher is given 15 minutes in which to present their research and answer questions. Presentations will be focused in two areas – research and evidence-based projects.
Learning Objectives:
Express that there is an increased risk of hemodynamic compromise when utilizing positive pressure ventilation within the congenital cardiac disease population.
Describe the benefits of a natural airway over an endotracheal tube for congenital patients undergoing TPVI.
Identify which anesthetic technique, GETA or deep sedation with a natural airway, resulted in a lower rate of periprocedural complications for congenital cardiac disease patients undergoing TPVI in the catheterization lab.
