Wilma has been involved in supporting our profession in various elected and volunteer roles at both state and national levels for more than 3 decades. She retired from a 36 year career at the University of Wisconsin in 2019 and continues to co-coordinate an annual pediatric ophthalmology surgical mission trip and to provide part time anesthesia care within the VA system. She first attended a Pioneers meeting more than a decade ago as a support to her Wisconsin friend and mentor--Patrick Downey, retired CRNA and past AANA President. She is proud to have served 6 years on the AANA Foundation's Board of Trustees, 3 of which were as chair. She completed 3 years of service as chair of the Fellows of the AANA Selection Committee in 2023, is an ongoing liaison to the State and Student Advocate programs for AANA Foundation and to again coordinate this popular Pioneers Meeting generously sponsored by AANA Foundation. Being able to mentor the youth of our profession through engaging them in stimulating conversations with our profession's Pioneers is an exciting service opportunity.
