Jennifer Ross Majumdar, PhD, CRNA, is the Assistant Specialty Director of the Nurse Anesthesia program at Hunter College in the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing and a Nurse Scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). She joined the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at MSK as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in 2015 and transitioned to the role of Nurse Scientist in 2022. Prior to her tenure at MSK, Dr. Majumdar was a CRNA with the Anesthesia Associates of Massachusetts (AAM) group in Boston and served as Clinical Faculty in the Boston College Nurse Anesthesia Program. She earned her BSN from Washington State University, her MSN from Boston College, and her PhD from The Catholic University of America.
Dr. Majumdar’s program of grant-funded research focuses on improving outcomes in patients undergoing ambulatory surgery. Her PhD dissertation examined the relationships between distress, pain, and coping strategies in women recovering from outpatient breast cancer surgery, and she is currently developing and evaluating targeted interventions to support this patient population. Additionally, she has led multidisciplinary teams to assess the effectiveness of evidence-based protocols aimed at reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting, as well as unplanned overnight admissions, particularly in high-risk populations.
Dr. Majumdar has made significant contributions to both clinical care and research in nurse anesthesia. Her work has been published in leading journals, including the AANA Journal and the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing. She regularly presents at national conferences such as the AANA Annual Congress and the Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators (ADCE), where she shares her expertise in perioperative care and oncology symptom science.
