Dr. Luci New is an Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Clinical Education at Wake Forest University School of Medicine Department of Academic Nursing in the Nurse Anesthesia Program. She serves on several councils at Atrium Advocate Health, including the Mental Health Task Force and Center for Well-being & Development Advisory Council.
In 2023, She served as a member of a nationwide collaborative group for the American Hospital Association in developing an action plan for suicide reduction among healthcare organizations and incorporated suicide prevention training to the existing peer support training.
Presented locally, regionally, and at state and national levels to diverse professionals on the topics of Second Victim Phenomenon, peer support programming, burnout, substance use disorders, and other wellness related threats. Her publications include well-being and resilience, impact of workplace challenges and risk of SUD, and second victim phenomenon.
In addition to membership of the AANA and NCANA,also has membership with North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) and American Nurses Association (ANA). Co-chair of the NCANA Peer Assistance and Wellness Committee and a State Peer Advisor. She also serves on the Education and Research Committee for the NCANA, as well as NCANA President from 2018-2019.
