Shayne D. Hauglum, PhD, CRNA is an Associate Professor of Clinical at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Hauglum, was one of the principle founding partners of an anesthesia practice and interventional pain clinic in northern New Hampshire until his departure in 2012. Following this, he attended the University of Miami and obtained his PhD degree in Nursing. Dr. Hauglum is known nationally for his expertise in the use of point of care ultrasound (POCUS). Hi current research focuses on the use of ultrasound and ultrasound technology, such as the use of an innovative needle tracking system to enhance student ultrasound-guided procedural performance.
