Dr. Edwin Aroke is a Tenured Associate Professor, Director of the Ph.D. Program, and Director of the Dual DNP-PhD Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. Dr. Aroke is an NIH funded CRNA scientist whose program of research uses a multi-omic approach (genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, and proteomics) to examine the mechanisms of chronic pain and pain disparities. Dr. Aroke has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, presented at national and international conferences, and has received numerous prestigious awards, including Researcher of the Year by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) Foundation, Didactic Faculty of the Year by the AANA, and Mitchell Max Award for Research Excellence from the NIH. He doubles as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
